Decided to take the camera out back of our building and along Pecan Street in Denton, TX. There’s some great textures back there. The emotion really came out after desaturating the photos.
I’ll be taking many more Denton photos specifically around the square for our new company’s brand collateral. Square 205 is the name and all Design services including Brand identity and interactive design will be taken over by the new company. Anyways, more on that and more pictures to come…
Needed to do something interesting tonight. These are all non-manipulated photos taken with a simple zoom lens and a trusty Canon Rebel. I think the first one is my favorite.
This next one was a new trick I figured out tonight to emulate a double exposure. In case you didn’t know, Jupiter house only has one vertical sign.
I wanted to try my hand at lightning photography… I say it went okay for a newbie. I used a 15 second shutter speed but now I’m thinking I would have been better off with more like a minute and a tiny aperture. Being on top of a four story building in a lightning storm made me nervous though so I didn’t spend too much time messing around with settings.
I wanted to capture the rain drops around the square so I increased the shutter speed. Unfortunately our poor little t2i rebel can’t handle the low light well enough for a nice clear picture.
4 second exposure here I think.
If you have any sweet lightning or weather shots from the Denton area, post a link!
Storied Productions is a company very much tied to the city of Denton. We love the city, love the people of the city, and care for the city’s well being. One of the things that has been greatly successful and beneficial for our city is Communities in Schools of North Texas which is a program that places volunteer mentors with at-risk students to help them graduate school.
If you haven’t already heard about the massive education budget cuts here in Texas you probably don’t watch the news, listen to the radio, or talk to anyone with kids. The number of valuable teachers losing their jobs is nauseating. On top of that, Communities in Schools is losing ALL of it’s state funding. ALL. For the students who need the most help, this is one of the few places they could turn to for aid.
The proof is in the pudding as evidenced by the Communities in Schools website which states “after five years of detailed evaluation underwritten by The Atlantic Philanthropies, [evaluations] concluded that Communities In Schools’ model resulted in the strongest reduction in dropout rates of any existing fully scaled dropout prevention program.”
Denton has not taken this reduced funding lightly and the Denton S.O.S. group formed specifically to Save Our Schools and privately fund the Communities in Schools project for North Texas.
Somethings are just naturally breathtaking. The big Texas sky, fields of bluebonnets and a star-filled night are all naturally beautiful without any help from man. And then somethings are breathtaking because they are handmade. Harden Cabinets out of Lewisville recently finished the incredibly intricate and beautiful wood work in the brand new Medical Center of Lewisville’s Grand Theater and they asked us to take some photos to showcase their handiwork. Take a look at how awesome these guys are!
In my humble opinion, few things in this world are quite as satisfying and delicious as a giant bowl of noodles. Asian noodles, Italian noodles, American Macaroni and Cheese noodles. I love them all!
And just like in a picture-perfect storybook, Ramen Republic came along. They have noodles of all sorts! And we get the awesome opportunity to get creative with their food AND eat it! We recently did a little product photography session for their delicious, fantastical, dreamy noodle bowls. Excuse me while I drool a little…
Ok, back to the point. Right, the point is Ramen Republic is delicious and we think these photos are too! Check them out!
Batteries. The bain of every green-minded person’s existence. It seems like batteries are never ready when you need them or they just die after a few hours.
Enter HealthyBattery.com
These guys are genius. They found a product that literally makes your batteries last 5 times longer, on average! Can you imagine how much money we can save and lead acid we could keep out of land fills if we used one battery for every 5 we use normally?! What an insanely awesome thought!
Anywho, we are lucky ducks because we had the glorious opportunity to shoot a commercial for HealthyBattery.com last week. Last Friday to be exact. Yeah, you know, that day when the wind was blowing like 60 miles per hour.
Needless to say it was a fun shoot.
Despite the wind trying to take us down, we reigned victorious and captured some great footage for these guys and I just happen to have a little preview for you today!

Here at Storied Pro we like to have fun. We REALLY like to have fun with new toys. Last week we bought ourselves a little project that turned into our new favorite toy: a new camera dolly! We love what we do and this has seriously got to be one of the biggest perks of working in the videography business.
We are of course a team of professionals so please folks, don’t try this at home!
Why the Phoenix? What does it mean? Isn’t that something Kanye West made up to get a half naked chick in his short film? No, of course not! The Phoenix has been a myth for centuries and its story aligns perfectly with the Storied Productions business philosophy.
The Phoenix is a mythical creature that looks something like a cross between a dragon and an eagle. Legend says each Phoenix lives approximately 500 – 1000 years. Toward the end of its life this beautiful, mythical animal begins to build a nest out of branches and twigs, nestles down and proceeds to violently explode into flames.
The phoenix body is ferociously consumed and then either a new Phoenix bursts through the flames or phoenix eggs are left behind in the ashes. This is a perfect metaphor of the business philosophy that drives the internal workings of Storied Productions as well as the attitude we have when working with clients. No, we don’t plan on becoming spontaneously combustive any time soon.
Whether it’s a wedding video, a company website or a corporate re-branding we are all going through changes that will shape the rest of our lives. The Phoenix not only represents new life but a sense of timelessness to which each generation can relate. It is our belief that a great company will stand the test of time well beyond its founders, beyond its core generation of great minds and beyond rebirth as the world continues. As long as the core belief system exists there will be passionate people to carry on the philosophies of centuries past.
